Why math? (day 6)

I recently saw a video by a math professor about why people don’t like math. I would like to re-say this to my Logan School peers (and others). In it, he talked about how people don’t like math because it is taught in a way that only shows part of what math is. It would be like if in art class, you only learned how to paint a wall. You would never learn about great artists, and all of the different forms of art. Then, if you said you were bad at art, what you would be meaning, is that you’re bad at painting a wall. This is also true with math. People say they are bad at math, but they don’t yet know what they are good at, or what they are striving for in mathematics. What really needs to happen, is for teachers to help students understand math as a whole instead of just how to remember a certain formula. My shoes (day 5)

I have mostly just two pairs of shoes. My sambas (which I always wear), and my soccer cleats (which I wear for soccer and ultimate frisbee). I have placed second twice in XC, and played basketball in them. These are now loose fitting and comfortable. I really like wearing these, and rarely take them off. My other pair of shoes are my cleats. These are the world cup Adidas Predators. They are black and white. These are tight and shape my feet to a more thin shape. I have now had these cleats since the winter season this year. I love these cleats and wear them at least once a week. Things Fall Apart (day 4)

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a story about a man named Okonwo who lives in an Ibo tribe. The story follows this man's life as he navigates this society.

I'm only part way through this, but so far I'm liking it. It is a very unique idea and keeps me interested due to the combination of society and character change. To me this book reminds me of Mice and Men due to the great characters. Overall, I really like this book, and am looking forward to finishing it.

Expo (day 3)

This is my first expo. I guess I’m prepared, I have enough work, but I’m still worried. I don’t know what to do or when to talk. It’s 6:00 now and people are starting to come upstairs now. I stand by my display awaiting the flood. My heart thumps, I breath heavily, and wait. Remember to comment, subscribe, and drink more hot chocolate.

Why are people angry? (day 2)

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to make someone sad or mad, but almost impossible to make someone happy. I noticed this yesterday. I was in a bad mood when I got home, and by the end of the day, both of my parents were mad, but also often my dad is in a bad mood and no matter how excited and happy the rest of us are, his mood doesn’t change. This kind of annoys me because it always makes me want to be by myself, which then causes my parents to yell at me for playing games even though I’m doing that because I don’t want to be around mad people. Which of course makes my parents more mad, causing a cycle that ends up causing nothing good, if not making the situation worse. Remember to comment, subscribe, and drink more hot chocolate.

My first march slice

11454297503_e27946e4ff_h.jpg
This is my first slice for the march challenge. In this month, I am hoping to try to do a number of different kinds of slices such as: past, future, poem, prose, satirical, and serious. I will try to touch on each of these, along with other styles of writing to further my ability and push myself. I might also try to better incorporate other medias into my slices such as illustration. Overall, I would like to use each of these slices to further my writing ability and learn lots about writing.
